Meet Robert Hsu

In case you don’t know me, let me take a minute to introduce myself.  I was born in 1968 to a family of prominent medical surgeons in Taipei.  My grandfather was one of the few millionaires in Taiwan at the time I was born.  He founded two hospitals, two schools and several charities.  When he retired, he passed the family business to my dad, also a medical surgeon by training.  I moved to Los Angeles when I was eight.

I graduated from UCLA and pursued my passion—making money in the financial markets.  I became a hedge fund portfolio manager at Wall Street powerhouse Goldman Sachs.  There, I was fortunate to learn from some of the finest investors in the world.  I amassed my first million by the time I turned 30, and in 2004, I started my own private money management business called Absolute Return Capital Advisors.  Since 2000, I have earned average annual returns of more than 20%.
